Carolinas PGA Team Comes Out On Top at Rules School

Last week, our tournament team brushed up on their game in Pinehurst at PGA of America / United States Golf Association - USGA rules school.

We are proud to share that our team members were among the top scorers of the 100 question exam - freshly certified and ready to go just in time for a new tournament season!

LAST DAY To Register For PGA Junior League Golf

Today, Wednesday, March 15, is the final day to register yourself as a Captain for PGA Junior League Golf.  PGA JLG is our primary growth of the game initiative and will be our focus moving forward.  Not only is it a rewarding experience, it is a financially beneficial program for both the Professional’s and the facility’s bottom line.

“I spent more time on the golf course for matches and practices than I had in years; it proved beneficial for me to see the condition of the golf course, get out of the office and spend quality time with our junior golfers.

It was also financially beneficial to myself, our other PGA Professionals and facility with these juniors and their families playing, practicing, shopping, and purchasing food and beverage with us. PGA Junior League golf has definitely been a great asset to our facility and myself a PGA Professional,”  - Frank Maynard, PGA Certified Professional – UNC Finley. Don’t miss out on this year.  Be the change at your facility and to your community.

CPGA Senior Season Kickoff

Championship Bermuda greens, tree-lined fairways, renovated bunkers and cart paths, and the signature 18th hole provide a perfect round of golf on this winding course where no two holes are adjacent.

The course was designed by Willard Byrd, one of America’s leading golf course architects. In the early 1970s, MacGregor Downs played host to the Liggett & Myers PGA Tour Match Play Championships and currently hosts the Children’s Flight of Hope Charity Tournament each year.

Some of the greatest names in golf have walked its fairways, including Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus, Gary Player, and Lee Trevino.
Get to know TurfHound!

The secret of TurfHound® surfaces are the combination of its proprietary foam core, embedded in a unique urethane blend, covered with the finest grass layer available. TurfHound Tee Surfaces simulate the feel and performance of real grass turf.  While most golf mats focus their attention on the hitting surface, TurfHound's unique design has replicated the physical dynamics and response of natural turf embodied in the top 1/4" to 1/2" of soil.

You can practice your swing again and again on a TurfHound surface, then step onto the fairway and enjoy the same swing dynamics on natural turf. As many pros will tell you, TurfHound is by far the most authentic representation of natural turf they've ever hit from. Swing a club, hit a ball and the sensation continues. There's no club-head bounce as you swing down and through the ball. No painful shocks to your wrists, elbows or shoulders.

TurfHound is installed in over 400 courses across the US and Canada, including 41 top 100 ranked courses. Get your TurfHound quote today! Contact Brian Golden at brian.golden@turfhound.com

SCNS Sports Foods Celebrates 10-year anniversary!

2017 is shaping up to be an exciting year for 1st and 10th Tee bars. This month we celebrate our ten-year anniversary, and we are very grateful to the Carolinas PGA and all its members for your strong support over the years.

We have three key initiatives underway in 2017 …

  1. We re-formulated our original “core four” 1st Tee and 10th Tee bars by removing the High Fructose Corn Syrup and replacing it with Organic Brown Rice Syrup. We also removed any artificial flavors. The bars still contain the supplements that make them specifically formulated for golf. Reflecting the new formulation, we re-launched the “core four” as “1st Tee Plus+” and “10th Tee Plus” bars;
  1. We will continue to donate $0.15 per bar to The First Tee on every 1st Tee Dark Chocolate Chip Trail Mix bar and 10th Tee Cranberry Trail Mix bar we sell or donate;
  1. We will continue our sponsorship we started last year for PGA Tour pro Scott Langley. Scott is the first ever graduate of The First Tee program to play on the PGA Tour.

We look forward to the next ten years, and beyond. Thanks again for your support.
